What document types can be attached to forum notes?

What document types can be attached to forum notes? I have some documentation I wrote on how to install PS3 Media Server on CentOS 6. But I can't upload a text file let alone a PDF file? Why not?

You can copy and paste plain text. Otherwise, zip and attach the file or upload it to a file/document sharing site and post the link.
