Hi again,

I finally installed PS3MS and PS3-radio on another computer running with Windoxs XP and everything works fine! I got the World Radio folder in the XMB menu...

The other computer is running under Vista...

Thanks for your help ps3-radio!

My main PS3MS computer is running Windows Server 2003 R2.

I just got a new machine with Windows 7 loaded (the RTM release, not Beta).

I loaded the latest PS3MS 356 and PS3-Radio.exe and everything worked right away without any configuration.
Since W7 is close to Vista, I assume that your computer with Vista should have worked.

Like I said in yesterday's email, I made a small change to see if that makes the last few people work ok.
Give it another try and good luck!

Yesterday I gave the new version a quick try: only step 2 and 3 as asked. Sadly on my Bravia 40W5500 no difference was seen. Still no good streaming options. It seems VLC is to blame.
De-installing VLC-player (including removing all VLC and VideoLan items from registry) and then clean-install v0.9.8 of VLC-player made a big difference.... for worse. Now VLC wouldn't even start. So I'm back to 0.9.9 now. Which at least starts. But PS3MS doesn't seem to like the streaming capabilities of VLC-player.
OR.... the Bravia doesn't cooperate correctly with it.

Bravia DOES play streaming media from the network: some weird French TV station on menu>video>ps3mediaserver>web>tv's>..... does work. Allthough the VLC-player-streaming items there don't work either.
Youtube worked occasionally, but I haven't seen it working after the VLC-player change.

World-radio shows up, but still gives no playable content.

I think I will have to learn to live with things the bravia cannot do, and start enjoying all the things it DOES do (very good!)

teake,

I was concentrating on those people that do not have World-Radio showing up in the menu. Sounds like a fundamental problem with PS3MS and Sony TVs. My set does not have an ethernet jack which is why I use a PS3.

If you could get ANY radio station to play, even by manually manipulating the web.conf file, I could make the PS3RADIO program generate a compatible file.

With a real PS3, World-Radio shows up on both the video and audio menus. Playable content only works if I select the audio menus. Perhaps that is a clue for the Sony TVs.

I noticed that the renderers directory has configuration files for PS3 and Sony TVs. Perhaps something in there can make the audio streams look like video streams or at least enable the audio streams.

Found the file:
Code: Select all
# ps3mediaserver renderer profile for Sony Bravia 5500 series
# Refer to PS3.conf for help

RendererName=Sony Bravia 5500 Series
RendererIcon=bravia.png
UserAgentSearch=notusedhere
UserAgentAdditionalHeader=X-AV-Client-Info
UserAgentAdditionalHeaderSearch=BRAVIA KDL.+5[0-9]{3}
Video=true
Audio=true
Image=true
SeekByTime=true
TranscodeVideo=MPEGAC3
TranscodeAudio=PCM
DefaultVBVBufSize=true
MuxH264ToMpegTS=true
MuxDTSToMpeg=false
WrapDTSIntoPCM=false
MuxLPCMToMpeg=false
MaxVideoBitrateMbps=0
MaxVideoWidth=0
MaxVideoHeight=0
H264Level41Limited=true
MimeTypesChanges=audio/wav=audio/L16|video/mp4=video/mpeg
TranscodeExtensions=
StreamExtensions=

Notice the last line: nothing behind StreamExtensions. Now the Bravia is not streaming, the PS3MS is streaming, the Bravia only playing the content.... but perhaps? Who knows what could be changed to make it work?

Check out the other conf files. Some of them have extra lines with comments.

Hi ps3-radio,

I am really enjoying your app on my PS3!

Now that everything works, I tried to add some of my own favorite radio stations on the favorites.csv file by following instructions in previous posts, but they are not showing up in the My Favorites folder of the XMB menu. :?

I even deleted some lines in the original favorite.csv file and they are still showing...Strange...

Should I edit the World-Radio.csv file instead?

Or is there anything elese I should do?

Thanks again for your help...

Okay, I realized I did not restart PS3-Radio.exe and proceed with step 2 and 3. :oops: I did and everything works fine, now! My added favorites are showing...

But it only works on Windows XP. There is nothing to do on Vista... The World-Radio folder does not appear...

favorites:

I would recommend against adding to the world file directly. Mainly because if you re-run any of the steps, it will erase your additions.

Instead, add to the favorites.csv file and re-run steps 2 & 3 to rebuild the files. Of course you need to stop/start ps3ms service to activate the changes.

The favorites file really has 2 formats:
You can fully specify something or just give minimal details. I try to figure out what you are doing.

For example (minimal details):
Radio Paradise,http://206.71.145.10:8010

The above is the display name and web link of the stream data.
I suggest using winamp to find the real address of the audio stream.
Once you have it figured out, add it to favorites and do the above procedure.

If you have a link that is not working, post it and I'll check to see if it is ok.
