how to edit the conf file?

I understand the concept of what I am supposed to do, but I can not edit the file. I tried to open it in wordpad but
when I try to save it is just a text doc. I tried to add ".conf" to the end of the file but that did not help either.

Try using notepad. It will save it in the proper way.
