PS3MS Code Contribution

I would be interested in trying to contribute to this great project, however I am not entire sure what the process is. According to the post viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1007&p=44100&hilit=code+contribute#p44100 by meskibob, "Start creating patches for open issues and submitting them to the Dev section of the forum."
Is that all there is to it?

Any development setup best practices or similar which should be read first?

It might be worth setting up a sticky in the Developer section of the forum relating to this information, so that more people would be interested in contributing.

its simple if u can fix any of these issues http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/issues/list then submit a patch in this section it will be added to the official build
